Referral Authorization Specialist

We're Hiring: Referral Authorization Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm No Weekends

We’re looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team and support our mission of improving lives through exceptional service.

What You'll Do

Provides information on medication coverage, patient account status, and secures medical/clinical authorizations for services.

  • Obtains required referrals and insurance authorizations through web portals, phone, or fax
  • Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled services
  • Reviews clinical documentation and apply critical thinking to support referral and authorization requests
  • Communicates with provider offices, healthcare facilities, and insurance carriers to gather necessary information
  • Documents all relevant communication with physicians, facilities, insurance companies, and internal teams
  • Collaborates with clinical staff to resolve issues such as missing documentation or medical necessity concerns
  • Discusses referral and authorization requirements with patients, including insurance coverage and next steps
  • Manages and monitors referral authorizations in eCW and payer portals to ensure timely approvals and seamless coordination of specialist appointments for office visits, diagnostic testing, procedures, and surgeries.

What We're Looking For

•Education: A high school education or GED

• Experience: One to three years of similar or related healthcare experience

• Skills: Sound knowledge of medical terminology and billing, Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities

• Tech-savvy: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet computer skills, eCW a plus

• Attitude: Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
