Mobile Clinic Certified Medical Assistant/Backup Bus Driver

If you are a Certified Medical Assistant with a Class B Driver's License**, YOU need to apply for this unique position. This role combines the clinical skills with our need for a a backup driver to operate of a large vehicle.

The UCF Mobile Health Clinic is dedicated to expanding access to healthcare by providing no-cost health screenings, preventative services and primary care directly to patients in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Evenings and weekend coverage for events as needed.

Education

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant. (1) two-year college degree or (2) completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.

Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant for Mobile Health. You will be a part of the Mobile Unit going to events and

Reports To: This position will report directly to the Mobile Health Manager

Position Summary: Serves patients by providing clinical and business office assistance in the community, on the mobile health unit.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care

Adheres to infection control policies and standards.

  • Documents all interactions appropriately in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Explains treatment procedures to patients.
  • Prepares patients for examinations.
  • Provides patient with patient education when needed or directed by provider. Use of the Language Line and ASL services as needed.
  • Prepares and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant).
  • Wound care and changing dressings.
  • Transmitting prescription refills as ordered by physician.
  • Taking vital signs as proper triage review and update medical records at time of visits
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

Lab Reports, X-rays, Tests

  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens.
  • Performs point-of-care testing.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • Documented results communicated to the patient after physician has reviewed the results.

Administrative Duties

  • Uses computer applications.
  • Welcomes patients.
  • Register patients in EMR and updates patient medical records.
  • Schedules appointments if necessary.
  • Ensures proper forms are signed and dated, such as consent to treat, Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) forms, medical releases, and HIPAA forms.
  • Assist with inventory of medical supplies and medications.

Assisting with routine set up and take down of Mobile Health Unit including acting as backup Mobile Clinic driver.

  • Independently arrives at correct location of mobile unit.
  • Evenings and weekend coverage for events is needed.
  • Assists with setting up and take down of supplies, chairs, tables, and tents. patient materials, etc.
  • Prepares rooms and instruments for examination and testing
  • Stocks supplies and cleans equipment per protocol. Manage biohazardous waste.
  • Promotes health education through planned patient engagement activities.

Backup driver duties for 38-foot RV box truck or sprinter van

  • Safely transports the large medical until to and from different community locations, which requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B.
  • Conducts pre- and post -trip inspections, manages fueling, and oversees the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the bus. Completes the daily start of day and end of day driver checklists.
  • Sets up and breaks down the mobile clinic at each location.
  • Sets up and operates wheelchair lift.
  • Assesses each event site for safe and accessible parking, following all local regulations.
  • Works with the full-time Mobile Clinic Bus Driver to follow all procedures and regulations for operations.
